Cost- effective ways of decorating your space!

Do you want to decorate your house but your bank balance says no with a frown? The secret of furnishing a house lies in the little things, and little things are hardly ever costly. With a minor eye for details and by using the art of illusions, you can change any room of your house without spending much. Tricks of the trade lie within your house, and therefore, here are few tips for the décor:

  • Side Table:

If you own a table that is not very large, you could paint it a neutral colour or match it with your room furniture and place it beside your bed. Painting would not cost you much, and you could use the table-top for a small lamp and the drawers as your rack. It would be win-win for both your old table and you.

  • Large Mirrors:

Mirrors can amplify your space and can also act as your very own vanity glass. With large mirrors comes the illusion of a larger room, giving you the idea of having a lot of extra space.

  • Symmetric Photo Frames:

You cannot possibly go wrong if you use a theme in your pictures to be hung, and hang them in a geometric, pleasing-to-the-eye pattern. Small photo frames clustered together to form a shape look lovely on the walls and can fill the space of a bare wall.

  • Coloured Lamp Shades:

Instead of buying different lamps, buy lampshades of different colours. Lighting would then, depend on your mood and the space in your home and be changed with the different kind of party themes. If you are feeling a tad bit more creative, paint them by yourself!

  • Hang Plates on Walls:

Did you see The Order of the Phoenix and wriggle your nose at those cute pinkish cat plates in Umbridge’s room? Well, they work great as a cover wallpaper and when hung in patterns, they tend to look beautiful. Plates become economical when bought together and you could customise them to your liking. Easy!

  • Stack Books:

If you tend to run out of space in your bookshelf (like me)and you still cannot stop buying books (like me), stack them on the floor or the old side table to give your room a sense of importance, and also use it to cover the extra ground space where you thought nothing was going to fit.
